Our July Diaper Day was another incredible reminder of what our community can accomplish when people come together to help one another.
Despite the intense Texas summer heat, 155 families visited the Houston Lone Star Diaper Bank to collect essential supplies for their children and loved ones. We are so grateful for everyone's patience, kindness, and understanding throughout the morning.
What We Distributed
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, we distributed:
6,250 baby diapers
20,880 baby wipes
100 hydration sticks
8 burp cloths & swaddles
609 adult diapers
480 adult body wipes
100 pairs of adult socks
153 pairs of adult shoes
725 PPE face masks
870 period products
Our team prepared enough supplies for 341 families. While only 155 families attended this month's distribution, any unclaimed supplies will help support future Diaper Days and emergency assistance efforts.
Thank You to Our Volunteers
Every Diaper Day is powered entirely by volunteers who generously give their time to help local families.
We know that waiting in line isn't always fun, especially in the Texas heat. Our volunteers work as quickly as possible while making sure every family receives the correct supplies.
Some months, distributions move especially fast. Other months take a little longer when we're distributing items that need to be individually sized, such as shoes. Taking a few extra moments helps ensure families receive shoes that actually fit, rather than simply handing out the next available pair. We believe it's worth the extra time to make sure donations are put to the best possible use.
We appreciate everyone's patience while our volunteers carefully serve each family with dignity and care.
A Reminder About the Heat
Texas summers can be extremely hot, and your safety is important to us.
If you have a ticket for Diaper Day, your diaper kit is guaranteed. There is no advantage to arriving early or waiting in line before we open.
Ticket holders are welcome to arrive any time between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and your reserved kit will still be waiting for you.
If you do choose to arrive early and line up, we strongly encourage you to:
Bring plenty of water.
Bring an umbrella or other shade.
Bring a portable fan if you have one.
Wear lightweight clothing and sunscreen.
The Texas heat is no joke, and we'd much rather see families arrive comfortably than spend unnecessary time standing outside.
Looking Ahead to August
Our next Diaper Day will be held on Tuesday, August 18.
Free tickets will become available on our website beginning at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11. We recommend setting a reminder, as tickets often reach capacity quickly due to the overwhelming demand for assistance.
Thank You
Whether you volunteered, donated, partnered with us, or attended this month's distribution, thank you for being part of our mission.
Every diaper, wipe, pair of shoes, and period product distributed represents a family receiving a little extra support when they need it most. We couldn't do this without our incredible community.
We look forward to serving more Houston families at our August Diaper Day.
